This special issue features a diverse selection of research articles on the topic of the "Super-Aged Society in Japan". The topics covered include aging populations and perspectives on geriatric medicine in Japan, an evaluation of Japan's healthcare delivery system throughout history, an overview of Japan's progress in dementia care, and its experience in addressing rapid aging in Asia. Articles discuss the success and unsolved issues in preventing cardiovascular disease in Japan, as well as data on senility deaths and long-term care. It also covers the international promotion of Japanese aging-related health services and products, and factors associated with community residents' preference for living at home at the end of life, etc.
