NCGMがアラブ首長国連邦保健基金賞を世界保健総会にて受賞
5月24日、国立国際医療研究センター（NCGM）の國土理事長は、国際連合欧州本部で開催されている世界保健総会にて、アラブ首長国連邦保健基金賞を受賞しました。同賞は、保健開発に対して傑出した貢献をした人物、機関、組織に与えられるものです。NCGMは、日本ならびに国際医療協力局を通じて途上国の公衆衛生への貢献を評価され、受賞する運びとなりました。過去にはビル＆メリンダゲイツ財団やヒラリー・クリントン氏も受賞している権威ある賞です。
アラブ首長国連邦保健省次官補のハッサン・アブドル・ラーマン・アル・ラウド医師は、同国保健基金を代表して総会で演説し、NCGMが専門家派遣や研修受け入れを通じて、感染症対策、母子保健などにグローバルに貢献してきたことを讃えました。その後、國土理事長に総会議長であるラオスのブンコン保健大臣からトロフィーが授与されました。國土理事長は、受賞の後、グローバルヘルスの領域における関係各位の協力に感謝し、この賞は「全ての人に健康を」という目標に向かう一つのステップであり、今後もパートナー、友人としてより健康な世界のために尽力していきたいと述べました。

Dr. Kokudo, the President of the NCGM, accepted the 2019 United Arab Emirates Health Foundation Prize at the 72nd World Health Assembly
On 24 May 2019, Dr. Norihiro Kokudo, the President of the National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM), Japan accepted the 2019 United Arab Emirates Health Foundation Prize. The Prize awards those persons, institutes and organizations that have made an outstanding contribution to the health development. The NCGM was awarded the Prize due to its contribution to the health of people in Japan and public health of low and middle income countries through its Bureau of International Health Cooperation. The prestigious Prize was won by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Ms. Hillary Rodham Clinton in the past.
Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under Secretary, Health Centres and Clinics, Ministry of Health, addressed the Assembly on behalf of the United Arab Emirates Health Foundation. He praised the NCGM’s contributions in such areas as infectious disease control and maternal and child health through experts dispatchment and training courses. Dr. Boungkong, the President of the Assembly and the Health Minister of Lao PDR handed the trophy to Dr. Kokudo. Dr. Kokudo accepted the award on behalf of the NCGM and addressed the Health Assembly. He thanked all colleagues in the global health community for their selfless cooperation and noted that the Prize is but one step toward the dream of “Health for All.” He further mentioned that as a longstanding partner and friend, the NCGM would continue to work tirelessly toward “a healthy world”.
